This week’s foodie adventure takes place at the Parlor, one of Kansas City’s first and only concept kitchens. With three levels, two bars, and seven signature restaurants all under one roof, it’s no wonder this foodie paradise was packed on opening day. Guests can choose to feast on Korean comfort food at Sura, Middle Eastern eats at Karbón, experience a unique twist on Japanese dishes at Yaki-ya, get cozy with comfort food at Mother Clucker, enjoy soups, salads, and sandwiches at Farm to Market Sandwich Co., sample Swedish bites at Vildhäst, and perfect pies at Providence Pizzeria.
This open-air space boasts style and grace all in your face—think wining and dining in Ikea, it’s that good! Not only is the atmosphere warm and inviting, but the culinary experience is unmatched.
For my first visit, I decided to try Mother Clucker and it did not disappoint. I kept it simple and went with the comeback sandwich, featuring a boneless chicken breast, slaw, pickles, and cluck sauce, all on a buttered bun. The chicken breast is tossed in a sauce with the heat of your choosing, ranging from “no heat” to “no clucks given”. I’m a chicken (no pun intended) so I went with a ‘hint of burn’ but definitely could have kicked it up another notch. The sandwich was huge, seriously the picture doesn’t do it justice, but more importantly, it was delicious. From the crispy outside to the tender, juicy inside, I was in heaven.
When the sandwich came out, I swore it was too big to eat in its entirety… then I proceed to eat it…in its entirety. Judge me.
If you’re not enjoying what you’re eating, you’re not living. So, get out there and live a little.
Pro Tip: Enjoy all-day happy hour every Monday and from 3-6 PM Tuesday-Thursday!
