Being a foodie and a fitness guru is hard. Luckily, I’m only one of the two, though I do try to maintain a fairly healthy lifestyle. I stick to a pretty regimented meal plan throughout the week (meal prep is my bff) and give myself one day to indulge in some pretty tasty treats. This week was no exception, and in celebrating Restaurant Week I went all out. I visited Café Trio for a delicious, and affordable three-course meal.
I began with a Salmon Chowder, which I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical of at first, but the skepticism was relived after my first bite. It was savory, and what you would expect from its cousin, New England Clam Chowder, but better. Served with a spicy drizzle of paprika oil, similar to a hot sauce, and thyme gougères (/ɡo͞oˈZHer/), miniature crispy dough puffs, this dish was full of tasty surprises.
My second course was the Seafood Lasagna served with wilted greens. The lasagna featured layers of crab, shrimp, and scallops sandwiched together with fresh pasta and fontina and ricotta cheese, baked to perfection. Serving delicacy and comfort, this dish was made with love in every bite and I loved it right back.
The third course, and to my surprise, the star of the show was the Gooey Chocolate Butter Cake. Topped with vanilla bean ice cream, toasted pecans, and drizzled in caramel I was in decadent dessert heaven. The cake was rich and fluffy and boasted layers of gooey chocolate goodness.
It was my first time visiting Café Trio but I know it won’t be my last! Did you have a cheat day this week? What are some of your favorite meals to indulge in? Let me know in the comments below!
