It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a wine, maybe it’s because it’s summer and I’ve started wearing less and going out more (yes, those are Drake lyrics)…or maybe it’s because I’ve been drinking less wine. Either way, I’m back and I’m better, and so is this rosé!
I’m not sure how I came across this gem, I think someone offered me a glass at their gathering, and I’m sure I reluctantly accepted because it’s a rosé and not a red. Regardless, this rosé represents all things summer. It IS summer, and you need it.
So, without further ado, I present to you: Ruby Red Rosé with Grapefruit, or as I like to call it, Grapefruit Rosé
Price Chopper: $12.58
Because it’s summer I decided to enjoy this delicacy in the perfect setting, a picnic just outside the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City—people watching, music playing, and birds chirping.
This rose has a light floral aroma with you guessed it, grapefruit notes. It’s a refreshing blend that’s perfect for a hot summer day. Though I have to admit, I’d have it on a rainy summer afternoon, a cool summer night, and any other time of day because it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere and this wine is delicious.
After enjoying a glass (or two) and a cute charcuterie spread, I headed inside the museum to view the 30 Americans exhibit highlighting American experiences, told from the perspectives of 30 African American artists. This exhibit was an incredible display of beauty and pain that highlighted our past, shined a light on our present, and reimagined our future.
It was the perfect summer afternoon, filled with self-care and cultural exploration.
If you live in Kansas City or will be in the area by or before August 25th, I encourage you to visit the Nelson Atkins Museum to check out the 30 Americans exhibit and view America through the lens of 30 prominent African American artists.
If you haven’t already, #DoItForTheCulture and add “support the arts” to your summer bucket list. Visit a museum, find an art fair or attend a performance (and try grapefruit rosé). You’ll be glad you did.
